I’m performing @sanjoseimprov this weekend with @therealdjsw1 - it’s a homecoming for me. I went to Cupertino High, then spent 2 years @sjsu before transferring to @ucla. I knew what I wanted to do with my life and Northern California was a great place to figure it out and put a plan in action. My father ran track with the heroic black men this statue honors. Growing up, I saw firsthand the price Tommie Smith and John Carlos paid for the most overtly political statement in the history of the modem Olympics. They took a powerful stand to call attention to the plight of people of color in this country. In 2022, we are reminded almost daily: Stand for something or fall for anything. #sulistrong 💪🏾
