—— THEY’RE ENGAGED!!! 😍🍾💕 It’s no secret that love is a constant source inspiration for me (being a couples photographer and all that 😜) but every once in awhile I’ll come across an example of rare love that absolutely blows me away with it’s ability to create incredible depths of genuine kindness, joy, gentleness, unwavering support, a level of connection that transcends all else and a beautiful clarity to see their partner for who they really are. Alec + Riley are one of those couples. So when @alecsmith8 asked me to help capture his proposal to @rileyjoe13 during their trip in Canada, I jumped in my car and made the 6+ hour drive to Vancouver under the guise of shooting the @canwestgames - a 3 day CrossFit competition held near BC where Alec was supposed to be competing. On the day of the proposal, we woke up early and hopped in the car to make the 3 hour trek up North for a half-day hike to some of the most stunning and picturesque turquoise lakes Canada has to offer. We spent the morning hiking through lush, emerald green forests, stunning glaciers, jagged mountain peaks and rushing waterfalls before settling down at the upper most lake which had the most vividly blue waters of them all. There, Alec asked Riley to marry him. 💍 Afterwards, they celebrated with some drinks and a few dips into two of the ice-cold glacial lakes before making our way into the nearest city for some burgers, fries and ice cream — the best post-engagement meal! We ended our adventure with another shorter hike to one of Canada’s most unique spots - a trail that leads to a handful of mangled railway boxcars scattered throughout the towering cedar and fir trees of BC, before making the long drive back to the hotel. This day was undoubtedly one of the best and most beautiful experiences I’ve ever had the privilege of being a part of. 🥰 To Alec + Riley — Thank you from the bottom of my heart for choosing me, for the amazing adventure that this day was and for your continued friendship! 🙏🏻 I can think of no higher honor in the world than to have been trusted by you to capture such an important moment in your relationship. 💛🫶🏼
