Here’s my complete mini guide to the holiday season in Bruges, Belgium! It’s tinier than the large market cities like Cologne and Brussels, but I loved the small town Christmas market vibes. It’s completely festive and utterly charming set amongst the Flemish cookie cutter architecture. 🎄 🐻 🎁 HOLIDAY FESTIVITIES BURG SQUARE This is one of the main squares, home to a massive Christmas tree surrounded by Bruges City Hall, Basilica of the Holy Blood & the Old Civil Registry. ICE RINK Koning Albert I Park is home to a festive ice rink filled with twinkling lights and holiday decor. LIGHT TRAIL The 3.5-km Light Trail lights up Old Town. Machina Luminais is this year’s theme, and the trail includes 10 dazzling light installations set at historic venues throughout town. MARKT CHRISTMAS MARKET Markt is the big Christmas market in Bruges, located in the main square. Colorful Flemish houses serve up a picturesque backdrop for the dozens of wood chalets selling Glühwein, waffles, chocolate, Christmas ornaments, crafts and more. SIMON STEVINPLEIN CHRISTMAS MARKET The smaller of the two Bruges Christmas market in Bruges. The wood chalets here focus on handicrafts, artisanal goods and local delicacies. And there is a carousel! WINTER BAR The IJsgloed Winter Bar is sits in Koninh Albert I Park with a fabulous view of the ice rink. The festive chalet-style bar serves local drinks, mulled wine and delicious snacks.
