Last week I signed a publishing deal with Top 5 / @hodgesmusic / @milkhoneysouth. So so so thankful to be a part of this family. I can’t wait to get to work. Like right now. —— If you’ve made it further, I’ve got to acknowledge a few of the core people that this moment doesn’t happen without. My best friend @ds_creatives and I set path towards the complete unknown five years ago when we moved to Nashville. I’m lucky that I had him beside me/inspiring me every step of the way. As unsure as things ever became in those early days, we just figured it out and kept working/creating. The shared bedroom airBnB, the garage, and 308 side by side. IYKYK The reason I moved was to work for @riandawson at Track Happy Studios. I definitely didn’t know how to use pro tools at the time, but he still took a chance on me. Immediately he took me under his wing and he guided me through studio knowledge, of course, but more so was an amazing friend/example to look up to. So many of my lifelong friends/monumental moments in my life are because of how he helped 22 year old me. In 2019 I was intro’d to @shelbyoder. (thank you matty) She was the first publisher I’d ever met. I had written some songs up to that point, and thought I knew some stuff. But stepping into her office I immediately knew the type of leveling up I’d have to do. So I got to work. Shelby has been a champion in so many ways, and I am so thankful our path went further beyond that initial meeting. My friend for life. To be signing a publishing deal with @hodgesmusic means so much. I’ve shared a studio space with him for three years and have been lucky to witness all of the things that make him who he is - his talent, dedication to his craft, etc. Writing songs with him has taught me so much about what it means to be a pro and there’s no one else I’d rather build with.
