Our gracious Queens final journey begins ....here is some useful information for the week ahead: Over the next week King Charles III will lead the nation in mourning, with the Queens funeral to be held next Monday. Today: The King and Queen Consort will fly to Edinburgh to visit the Palace of Holyroodhouse and the King will inspect the guard of honour. A ceremony of the Keys on the forecourt will follow. A ceremonial procession to convey the Queens coffin to St Giles Cathedral will follow, where it will lie at rest, guarded by a vigil until tomorrow. Tomorrow: The Queens coffin will be flown to London, departing at 6pm. The Princess Royal shall accompany her mothers coffin. The coffin will lie at rest in Buckingham Palace until Wednesday allowing members of the royal household to pay their respects. Wednesday: A royal family procession behind the Queens coffin will leave Buckingham Palace at precisely 2.22pm to Westminster Hall for the lying in state. It will go via The Mall, Horse Guards Arch, Whitehall, Parliament Square. The coffin will arrive at Westminster Hall at 3pm.
