When people ask ‘what advice would you give to your younger self’ I struggle, because I don’t think learning works that way.
At least, it doesn’t for me.
So many people had told me cautionary tales about one thing or another, but it wasn’t until I was the one telling my OWN cautionary tale that I had learned my lesson from it.
Growing up I heard ‘don’t take drugs, they’re bad’ but it wasn’t until I’d experienced my own hell of the drink/drug cycle and came out the other side when I thought ‘hey, wow, drugs really are bad’ 😂.
I shouldn’t laugh, but when I’m given the perspective of giving my younger self advice I do, because she wouldn’t have listened to a word I said 😂.
I’m still learning about all kinds of things, and honestly, I am still not great at taking advice.
Maybe that’s true for all of us. 🤷🏼♀️
I can literally describe each of the life lessons that got me to where I am right now and, weirdly, I don’t think there’s any I’d change.
One thing I do make sure I do is look back at my younger self with compassion and understanding, because my younger self deserves that. ❤️
My advice to my younger self:
“You’re on the right path, you hard-headed little moron. I love you.”
