🦉 Jacco Olivier Art Antwerp 2022 🦉 • One painting can never show the multiple paintings that Jacco Olivier (NL, 1972) usually assembles in his animations. Therefore, it is important to him to demonstrate the different layers of brushstrokes, color fields, and the linen canvas that build up a painting. In some works, Olivier quite literally depicts his painting process, for example in 'Untitled (owl 12)' (3rd image), in which the bird is hidden behind several layers of branches. The different layers also have different meanings. The life story of an animal, once trapped in a cage, then free as a bird, can be reflected in a painting. • In addition to the technical aspect, there is much symbolism in the paintings of animals. Human beings often relate to animals and mirror their emotions and character traits to those of animals. Olivier’s series of monkey paintings, for example, was supposed to make us look in the mirror. In the series of owls, too, we can relate to the wisdom and mysticism of these birds. • Click the #linkinbio for more information • Practical information: Art Antwerp 2022 Thursday 15 december - Sunday 18 december, 2022 Jan van Rijswijcklaan 191, 2020 Antwerp • Featured artworks: 1.
