I have been consuming algae and mushrooms for almost a decade! For the past year I’ve been taking algae derived Omega-3 oil and loving how it’s impacted my life! When I was younger my parents made me take fishoil it would taste so bad and make me have nasty burps but I’m glad they made me take it! With advances in agriculture and technology we now have access to Vegan Omega-3 from algae the same place fish get it from! I’ve been contemplating new carrier oils for our mushroom infusions. As I was admiring some of our forest grown lions mane this summer I thought about our algae grow and put 2 and 2 together! Algae and mushrooms have been in front of me the whole time!! I decided to start experimenting with infusing Lions Mane into DHA rich algae oil! First I had to find the right oil! I sought out Schizochytrium sp. sourced from the Bay of Fundy in Nova Scotia Canada. Schizochytrium algae can produce up to 66% DHA in their cells!
