It may seem a bit tone deaf to tell you to buy a Fourth of July Parade T-shirt today, but here's why it's not. Many of us were crushed by the overturning of Roe v Wade today. But also today, three decades of inaction on gun legislation ended. Thousands of people have been fighting like hell for both of these issues. Today I applaud one outcome and am gutted by the other. The gun legislation I applaud isn't even close to what I want in this country, but I recognize that other people want the opposite just as strongly and the fact that SOME of us came together to make SOMETHING happen for gun control brings me immense joy and hope. We have to stand up for what we believe, but we have to listen too. We have to work together, even when we are worlds apart. SO, head to @paradesatthepark , buy a T-shirt and come to the Stars and Stripes parade on July 4th. There are so many things wrong in this country today but there are also so many things that are right. Let's celebrate the good and fight to change the bad. Better still, let's kill the dichotomy of thinking it's either good or bad, right or wrong because nothing gets done that way, no one side will ever win. That's the incredible thing about the USA, no one side can rule. Even when it feels like they are, in reality, they are not. Working together is what America requires.
