Labor Day is the unofficial end to summer, but did you know??? 🌟 More than 10,000 workers marched in the first Labor Day Parade to protest 16 hour work days. 🌟 In countries outside of the US and Canada, this holiday is celebrated on May 1. May Day as it is called is a day for honoring workers. 🌟 The origins of the holiday date back to the 1800's when the average American worked 12 hour days, 7 days a week, and children as young as 5 worked in factories and mines. 🌟 Labor Day began in Toronto, Canada in 1872 but quickly made its way South. In 1894 President Grover Cleveland signed a bill making this an official US holiday. 🌟 No white after Labor Day? This funny rule has mixed origins. Some speculate this rule applied to the wealthy as they could wear white because they did not risk getting their clothes dirty working labor intensive jobs. Other interpretations are that when those that had summer houses returned, they put the white clothes away for the winter months. 🌟 The Adamson Act was passed on September 3, 1916, establishing an 8 hour work day as standard. 🌟 🌟 🌟 #financialwellnesswithvicki #financialwellness #FWWV #financiallyfabulous #laborday #labordaytrivia #money #wealth #debt #budget #getoutofdebt #workinghard #work #labordayweekend #labordaysale #happylaborday #weekend
