Hello Northern California friends! I'm heading your way this weekend to do a spotlight talk in the Monterey Museum of Art's current Enrique Martínez Celaya exhibition! I've been working with EMC and the MMA on an essay for the exhibition catalog, and the tour I've devised is based on some of that essay's themes — focusing on two of the most prevalent visual motifs that run throughout the exhibition (and Martínez Celaya’s overall practice): birds and the sea.
