š§„š§£ Is putting winter layers on your child a challenge? It can take years of practice for a toddler to gain the planning and motor skills needed to get dressed on their own. But a fun way to meet the need for a cold-weather jacket is to introduce your little one to the coat flip! Less challenging than putting on a coat the conventional way, the āflipā lets your child practice planning and coordinating their movements while bringing them some newfound independence. Here is how to do it: 1ļøā£ Lay your childās coat open on the floor in front of them with the inside facing up and the collar at their feet. 2ļøā£Guide them to squat down, lean forward, and push a hand into each sleeve hole. 3ļøā£Demonstrate for them how to stand back up and flip the coat over their head, pushing their arms farther into the sleeves. 4ļøā£Encourage them to snap up, button, or zip their coat for additional fine motor practice. It may take many tries for a young toddler to get the hang of this. Remember that repetition is the key to learning new things. Keep showing your child the steps and allow extra time in your daily routine for them to practice. #Montessori #CoatFlipTrick #TikTokTaughtMe #MontessoriLearning
