Established in 2021, the LOEWE FOUNDATION / Studio Voltaire Award celebrates talent, individuality and original thinking within contemporary art practice. The first chapter of the award benefits seven artists with two years of support, including mentorship, a bursary and rent-free studio space. As we head into the second year, we commissioned awardee Josiah Moktar (@josiahmoktar) to photograph portraits of their peers and their studios. This week we’re visiting the studio of Ayo Akingbade. Akingbade’s practice comprises film, installation and printmaking rooted in notions of urbanism, power and stance.
