#PlayTheChanges: Yang's Kitchen
Nestled in the heart of Alhambra's once-bustling Main St, @YangsKitchenLA isn't the typical Taiwanese restaurant you'd find in the #SanGabrielValley. Their ambitious approach to comfort food breathed a much-needed air of freshness into the neighborhood with dishes that paid homage to traditional flavors, while pushing the boundaries of what Asian-American food in LA could be. Needless to say: that ambition paid off, earning them crowds of curious diners night after night. Now those crowds have been ordered to #StayAtHome, leaving the team with a simple choice: Give up or stand up. Luckily, Chef and owner Chris Yang (@cyangggg) chose the latter, finding some positivity amongst the chaos #COVID19 brought to the table:
-
"The community has been supportive, buying gift cards, merch, and making sure to support whenever they can. In general, the greater community has been awesome: so many people are giving everything up to their staff, or donating meals to healthcare workers, etc. It seems like most small businesses owners are really trying to do whatever they can to help. It is a community effort in a true sense of the word." Today, they're operating with their "skeleton crew grocery store/restaurant, just trying to help in any way we can, making things a little better day by day."
-
#YangsKitchen has since changed their entire menu to serve the community by procuring fresh, high quality ingredients from local farmers and other prepared goods, all packed for contactless/curbside pickup so you don't have to go to the grocery store. They're constantly evolving each day to #PlayTheChanges, collaborating with some of the best local shops LA has to offer, including @bubandgrandmasbread, @meijitofu, @gonestraw_farms & more. Follow them on IG for daily updates to their menu!
