Ahhhh the time when I could still balance on one leg before I had endless vertigo. You don’t miss what you had before it’s gone, that’s for sure. When this ear heals I’m not going to be taking my balance for granted. Five more weeks 🥴 The other thing we take for granted? A brilliant coat. We don’t take it for granted in its functionality we take it for granted in the fact that it’s a showstopping piece. I totally get the impulse to “style” everything but please for the long of god do yourself some favors and recognise when you have a piece that doesn’t need to compete with anything else you’re wearing. At the heart of it all, I spend good money on pieces like this because I know when paired with any other outfit they do the bulk of the work. So you don’t have to go hard with the other pieces. The other pieces are great, an old fast fashion tank (this thing is over ten years old) and a pair of Stella MacCartney trousers I once snagged in a discount store for a song. On their own, it’s an interesting outfit because of the proportions (high waisted and all that) but the coat makes everything really come together swiftly and that’s why it’s such a good piece. You could also wear all black beneath and still look elegant. Additionally I would recommend everyone who likes brogues get a pair of men’s brogues. These feel sturdier than any pair I’ve ever bought from the women’s shoe section. Additionally it’s no real secret that the fashion industry has been known to make men’s clothing ... longer wearing. Which is why I constantly urge you to shop from every section of the store. Many of my favorite pieces are “mens”. Also for me the lightweight coat is such a moment in the season, a blip before it’s too cold to just wear this with a tank underneath. So take advantage of the moment. The season is here.
