Here are 4 180 jumps you can do without toe stops. Although freestyle artistic skating is done with toe stops as the more advanced moves require them there are a few jumps we do with no toe stop. The loop, euler, Axel, waltz jump. salchow can be done both ways. Here’s some fun 180s to try that do not require a toe stop but if u plan on getting more advanced into artistic skate elements ur gonna want to put those stops back on aNd learn how to use them as well as how to not use them. Meaning doing things like dips and crazy legs and even toe toe spins with them on. In a perfect world we would have a skate where the toe stop would adjust in an instant but since that magic hasn’t happened it’s best to learn to both use them and not use. Skate with and skate without them. 2/3 of my competition skating as a child were done without toe stops but now I just taught myself to do everything with stops as feasibly possible. Please don’t believe people that say u need to take them out to be an advanced skater. This is far from the truth. Although U will find some things much easier to learn without toe stops, learning to use ur stops is a Part of skating, unfortunately too many recreational skate companies make cheap plates where the toe stops spin out so people give up on them. If ur toe stop spins out it’s not the stop it’s ur sign that u are skating above the level of your skate and are creating enough torque that u need better sports equipment. It’s fine if u really decide u want to focus on no stop style skating and ditch the stops. Some of the best skaters in the world do that but aLso many of the best skaters in the world aLways use stops because there are so many tricks u need them for. Don’t ditch ur stops cause of uninformed peer pressure, or faulty equipment, or laCk of coaching! Get a coach or come to my class and I’ll show u how to master them.
