MY MATTE TEXTURED WALLS are... 🥁 "Forte White" by American Clay. You guys ask about them all the time, so let's deep dive: ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ We used American Clay, a natural earth plaster made in New Mexico with this soft, organic vibe (also—nontoxic and eco-friendly.) Adding texture to walls is one of the best ways to add wow factor if you want to stick to a neutral color palette. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ It can also be fairly pricey, so we plastered the downstairs of the house and used regular paint on the second floor to stay within budget. I love these walls so much that I keep a few of them bare to have their own moment. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I will say—this is not an easy DIY project. You'll want to either do your research and practice with lots (lots!) of test patches or hire someone who knows what they’re doing. Our walls required a base coat and two layers of top coat, with drying time in between. Start to finish it was about a 3-week process. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ So, was it worth it? After living with these walls for 2 years, it's still one of my favorite parts of our house. No regrets.
