This is 7yr old “Vicky” performing at Fresno as an artistic roller skater. When I say I’ve been skating since I was 7yrs old, I WASN’T LYING!!! Lol. Back then I was known as Vicky. Those who knew me back then can still call me Vicky, but anyone else calling me that just sounds weird lol. My coach was Cindy South (now known as Cindy South-McCracken). She was a Great coach. She’s the reason I skate so fast lol. She used to always say that if you want to achieve a great jump or spin, you need to have speed. You can’t achieve much with Slow skating, and she wasn’t wrong lol. I still skate fast. At times I miss artistic roller skating. I did this for about 11yrs, but I don’t miss the blood, sweat and tears. Back then when I was kid, there were a few skaters that looked like me, but once I got older, there was no one, and I kind of felt out of place, almost like I didn’t belong, but I had to push those feelings away in order to focus on competing. Now I skate for fun, finding my groove since nothing has to be perfect anymore.
