Mzinga has long been an object of fascination among the Nursery herd. She was little more than a newborn when we rescued her in February, and because of her fragile state, she kept to her own routine for many months. Once she got into tip top condition, however, Mzinga was ready to make her big debut at the midday mud bath. This was a thrilling development for the other orphans — although they are only babies themselves, they couldn’t believe their luck to have such a tiny elephant in their midst! Ever the queen bee, Mzinga immediately took authority over the water bucket. She is such a confident, curious girl. Mzinga and her sidekick, Nyambeni, are the latest (and littlest!) additions to our Nursery herd.
