Many years ago someone told me about Gratitude Rocks 🪨. We were walking along a river and they asked me to pick up a rock, to find one that called me, hold it in my palm, and look at what was around me. In that moment, they asked me to speak out loud what I am grateful for. To feel the rock in my hand, to be present, and to be openly thankful for the beautiful things in my life 🪶. People speak about gratitude all the time and it took me a long time to really understand why it’s so important. I believe gratitude is a skill, something that’s learnt and practiced. A ritual. This sounds very hippy, but gratitude changed my perspective on life. On the days where I was at my very lowest I remember thinking there wasn’t anything worth being here for, and that kind of thinking is like poison, it spreads so fast across your entire being. Nowadays, if I start to feel any of those thoughts creeping in, I remind myself of the things that I am grateful for, the interchangeable beauty of those things; conversations with strangers, making my nephew laugh, seeing my dog in the morning, the fact the sun rises every day regardless of the storms that may have happened the night before. 🌞 Gratitude rocks are everywhere, and they’re a little key to happiness 🌸. . . . . . . . . #scotlandtravel #explorescotland #vanlife #gratitude #thankfulness #sobrietyrocks #gratituderocks #instadogsfeature #bostonterrier #ayrshire #dailycalm #fairypools #soberliving
