🌙 Herbs for sleep with @foraged.by.fern 🌙
"Has anyone else been having trouble sleeping in this humidity? 🙋♀️ When I’m having trouble, I turn to the herbs!
Lavender, wild chamomile, mugwort and lemon balm are all abundant at this time of year and make a perfect bedtime tea! Simply gather a small handful of each herb, and brew in a pot for a few minutes before pouring into your favourite mug.
These herbs don’t just smell and taste amazing, they’ve all been shown to decrease anxiety and aid sleep! Lavender for example stimulates the neurotransmitter GABA, which quiets the nervous system, increases restfulness and reduces agitation. It’s a fantastic sedative and is the perfect herb to bring about a full night's sleep.
I also love mugwort for sleep, it’s a deep muscle relaxant and a small amount will help the body release tension and let go of anxiety! It can also lead to very vivid and sometimes lucid dreams, so just a few leaves is plenty!
The lovely people at @nealsyardremedies sent me some sleepy products to try out too, so I enjoyed my sleepy tea in a bath filled with beautiful lavender salt and foaming bubble bath. LUXURY LIVING!"
