Hilaree was never afraid to set the skintrack. She pushed beyond what was considered possible in the mountains, while breaking trail for a generation of female athletes to come. She was a loving mother and friend, and as a mountain partner was both encouraging and supportive, inspiring everyone around her to go a little farther, try a little harder and smile a little more the whole time, whatever the conditions. The snow community is an intimate one, tied together by shared love and passion, and during the most difficult moments, grief. Now is one of those times.
