[Save this post] What I Loved About Mallorca! / What You Need to Know
So guess what? I’ve never wanted to go to Spain. I’ve seen lots about Barcelona, Madrid... eh. Even Ibiza... seems beautiful, but too fist pumpy.
When I stumbled on Palma de Mallorca (also spelled Majorca) I was like, oh. Yea. If I do Spain it’s gonna be like this. And then two weeks later, I booked it 😩 because #traveladdict #leoseason
Getting there - We flew JFK/NYC -> Madrid -> Mallorca. At the time there were no direct flights but a major US airline just started doing direct flights from Newark to Mallorca. Laying over in Madrid was seamless, though. Ryan Air and Easyjet fly between Madrid and Mallorca many times a day.
Vibe check - it’s a large, luxurious island that somehow manages to still feel quaint. It has pockets of towns but largely green. People are very friendly. Food was better than I thought. There are a few meals that are living rent free and I’d def come back for. Great hotels, castles, views, cocktails. Stay in Palma - I’d also suggest a tour visiting Valdemossa, Deia, Sóller, Alcúdia.
Getting around - Mallorca is a relatively large island. I don’t drive overseas, but I was forced to drive once this trip since taxis were 45 minutes backed up (peak season) and we were going to be late for a hard-to-get dinner reservation so the hotel let me drive their electric car. We didn’t die. I’d still recommend taxis around Palma + a day tour to see other regions. Unless you’re an overseas driver... then do your thing.

[9] Platja de Muro - Best beach I’ve been to in Europe. On par with Caribbean sand and water.
