Movement meditation 🧜‍♀️ I lack discipline when it comes to a self yoga asana practise, I need someone to guide me. If I can’t get to a class then online videos help me to fit in a session. Even though I know its a great challenge to take on my own self practice I barely get past 3 sun salutations before I’m convinced something more urgent needs my attention. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve been able to do it for periods in my life but not enough to call it a practice. So this is what I do instead that I actually love. Usually wedged between the wardrobe and the bed, or the hallway, in the dark, sometimes in silence so I don’t wake anyone - in the morning when I wake or before bed or when I just can’t sleep. It’s slow, it’s full of feeling and it’s totally intuitive. It’s also crunchy, tight and sensitive and I feel my weaknesses. This time I take - 5 mins or so - gives my mind body a chance to express itself, communicate its needs and be its own healer which I find incredibly strengthening. When I find the creaky corners that I don’t notice in the rush of my day to day I stop and breathe into them until they are eased, lubricated by my conscious breath and awareness, and free - or at least free-er... If you’re someone that likes free styling you’ll love this and probably already do something like it. If this kind of thing makes you feel like a fish out of water I urge you to give it a try, eyes closed, allowing the scenes around you to drop away. Or at least eyes half lowered to dim out the noise and then just lean in to your body. I tend to do whatever I do on one side immediately on the other but I don’t enforce that. The speed of this vid makes it look fast and even graceful but it’s more heavy and lazy and slow with a few grunts (read into that what you will!) and very grounding. It helps me a lot - you can also try it in bed.
