The one good thing about Instagram showing my photos to very few people and my photos getting little engagement is that it's made me take a step back to really think about why I take them in the first place. As if I needed any excuse to get out in nature, photography more often than not provides the motivation to do so. I turn into a little kid in a candy shop, giddy and full of excitement when I'm taking photos of a beautiful landscape. And it's the reason I spend hundreds of hours researching new places to visit. It's connected me to do many incredible individuals who have become some of my best friends. Photography has provided me with countless opportunities and experiences I can confidently say wouldn't have come without my photographic skills. I can't see myself ever not taking photos. Even if there wasn't a single way to share them with others. Sharing them is a huge bonus and I hope this app will one day return to its old ways and appreciate photos again but photography ultimately is something I do for myself because I love it.
