I feel the urge to be vocal on social media about all of this in hopes of jump starting a call to action: The Amazon Rainforest contains 20 percent of the world’s fresh water and provides 20 percent of the air we breathe. As of right now, forest area in smoke is equivalent to about 1.2 million square miles, roughly one-third of the US. The fires are so big they can be seen from space. It’s heartbreaking to see humans butcher the planet while fighting wars over who owns what. There will be nothing to own soon. We are doomed if we keep ignoring this. The Bolsonaro government is a threat to the planet and our natural resources. How come no "significant" people are out there offering to help? How about we get Jeff Bezos, richest man on earth, CEO of Amazon, to help with the fire that’s currently destroying the Amazon forest? It only seems appropriate. This is very alarming. Donations aren't even enough for restoration. I don’t know what resources to donate to or how to help, but raising awareness seems like a good first step. What organizations are stopping this? Who must we reach out to? How can we stop this? The Earth is dying right before our eyes and I know damn well using metal straws isn’t cutting it. If anybody has any links or information on how to help, please drop them and contribute. Open to all suggestions, let’s live in the solution. Please share and spread awareness. Something needs to be done, we can’t look away. @unenvironment @onuenvironment @onumedioambiente @eucouncil @wwf @wwfspain @wwfbrasil @greenpeace @greenpeace_esp @greenpeacebrasil @nature_org @thewcs @climaterrality @envagency @tncbrasil @friends_earth @nrdc_org @conservationorg @ipcc @worldresources #savetheamazon #savetheplanet
