Only 1.5% of TV showrunners and 1.3% of directors were Latino.” With the cancellation of these series, it begs the question: Does Hollywood actually care about bolstering Latino talent and stories? “I was either a kid or a young teenager when ‘Cheers’ debuted,” Lopez said. “At the end of its first season, ‘Cheers’ was the lowest rated show on television — and they stuck with it to their credit, but that’s kind of what it takes.
