As an AFAB (assigned female at birth) Transmasculine person I get mislabeled as a lesbian a LOT. I do not identify with this label and I don’t feel affirmed by it. People assume because I was AFAB and married to a woman that makes me a Lesbian. Understanding my gender identity has allowed me to reclaim my sexuality and label myself appropriately, I’m queer and my sexuality is fluid. I do find myself more attracted to femme presenting people, but my attraction to people falls within the queer community and is not limited to only females.
Please note a transmasculine person can identify as a lesbian, but that isn’t an accurate representation of my sexuality. Every queer lived experience is different! 🏳️⚧️✨
