NEW Single-Origin Coffee: Haru 🇪🇹 Haru is BACK! If you have been a Counter Culture Coffee fan for a while, you probably remember this incredible coffee. Though we began purchasing from the Haru cooperative in 2011, this year’s lot is the first single-origin release of Haru since 2017. With flavors centered around complex florals and a deep sweetness, Haru has a unique profile compared to those of its neighbors. Tasting this year’s lot had us falling in love all over again as we encountered notes of white tea, tangerine, and honey. Shop Haru at the link in our bio 🔗 Perched high on mountain slopes skirting the western edge of Yirgacheffe, Ethiopia, the Haru cooperative is an organization of 1,172 family-owned farms. Formed in 1975, the cooperative joined the Yirgacheffe Coffee Farmers Cooperative Union (YCFCU) umbrella cooperative in 2002 as a founding member. Since our first purchase of Haru, the cooperative has always been willing to try new things and continues to create a distinct coffee from a region well known for quality. While most of the coffees we taste from Yirgacheffe have pronounced high-end notes of bright citrus and melon, we often find more nuanced florals and sweetness along with a softer acidity in our favorite lots from the co-op.
