I took this photo a year ago when I launched @asiansforsexpositivity, thinking that I’d just be making a couple of infographics and talking about sex. Little did I realize how much my life could change. I’ve met some of the most incredible Asian sex educators. I got the opportunity to be in a docuseries👀 I now work with a team of 12 amazing Asian individuals who make me feel seen and heard. Meanwhile, I’ve also received racist and hateful comments, which only make me work harder. All of that aside, within the past year, I’ve really realized how much work needs to be done. Sex education in America is failing our students, especially our POC students. Violence against AAPI people along with the fetishization of AAPI women is still rampant. I hope that by continuing to uplift Asian voices, we are not only making space for more representation but also paving the way for real change.
