Thank you to everyone who showed up and out to @_archestratus_ this week for our event with @reem.assil, @pansypao, @whoismanett and @orawise! We’ll say it again and again: Down with occupation, in all the places it exists! From Guam to Borikén to Palestine; everywhere. Up with nourishment — up with good food, solidarity, community care, consciousness raising, all of the good things that keep us spiritually, mentally, physically fortified to take down the old systems that operate upon / within us, and reach for the world we need. Thank you Paige and the @_archestratus_ team for opening up your space for this gathering. Thank you to our incredible panelists, who connected their own stories of fighting for food sovereignty to each others’, history and larger movements. So nice to meet new folx and see old faces. Including FIG fam who have attended and supported study group meetings and events that very much led to this one — from Asymmetrical Table pop ups and open letter campaign with Reem and @lalph_rauren (2017-18); and deep pandemic, cross movement Palestinian teach in (2021); to fresh food preservation brigades in solidarity with Pao and fellow queer Bori food folx after Hurricane Maria (2018); organizing with @i_collective_, intervening against “Thanksgiving” (2017-19); all of the collaborations together @alliedmediaconf over the years, including this year’s “Radical Hospitality” publication produced by Ora and @whetstonemagazine, with contributions from each of our panelists including an essay about the breadfruit fritters @whoismanett also served at our event! Whew! The list continues, and may our work in solidarity and in community continue.
