Author Hilary Mantel, who has died suddenly aged 70, was 'one of the greatest English novelists of this century', according to her publisher HarperCollins. She won the Booker Prize twice - in 2009 and 2012 - for her historical bestsellers Wolf Hall and Bring Up the Bodies, making her the first woman to win the award twice.
'Her Wolf Hall series,' writes Alex Barker for the @financialtimes, 'recounting the unlikely rise and fall of Thomas Cromwell from blacksmith’s son to Tudor powerbroker, rejuvenated the genre of historical fiction, bringing her critical plaudits, global fame and runaway sales.'
