Like all of you, I’m devastated. Finding the right words has been difficult so I’m just going to share what my daughter wrote: “She permanently resides on my vanity, gavel in hand, pointing the way forward. I see her when I wake up and when I go to bed. Every day she reminds me of several things: why my turbulent, hard-fought voyage to become a lawyer was a gift, why feminism is for everyone, why advocating for justice matters always, and—most importantly—why no one should ever underestimate short ladies. For those of you who feel completely upside-down and inside-out and want to spend the next few days (Weeks? Months? Potentially years?) hibernating under a duvet cover: Cry, scream, rage, grieve. But then (and as soon as possible), brush off the dirt and stand up. We dissent. We fight. We vote. We do not stop. Ruth never did. And we never will. We are notorious, too.”
