In sixth grade my friends covered my locker with pink wrapping paper as a birthday prank and I tore it down, humiliated. When I came out I felt like I I wasn’t pretty enough for it - I felt like a man trying to be girly. I heard the stereotype of the compensatively feminine trans woman. I developed a pick-me-esque relationship with tomboy vibes - shorts and t shirts and no bright colors or frills or skirts. I still feel more comfy in basic greys and light blues as Emily, but letting Siri have a pink era was an unexpected and needed twist.
