Apps + bites honoring one of my favorite people to cook for, one of my biggest supporters, @steveazar, all inspired by his favorite foods... Mezcal + pickled jalapeño braised chicken tacos with charred onions/jalapeños and a chipotle crema. Beef + broccoli skewers after his favorite Chinese takeout. Shrimp po'boy toasts on lightly toasted @gambinosbakery French bread with an extra horseradishy remoulade + pickled tomato cabbage slaw. A shaved asparagus salad with parm, pine nuts, and basil. Smoked labne with grape leaf pesto and beet hummus for some dippage & an ode to his Lebanese heritage. Smoked sausage doused in creole seasoning + cheeses with hot pickles. Jalapeño popcorn for snacking and late night beignets with a bourbon espresso dolce de leche (because the only acceptable way to eat beignets in my opinion is to dunk them in a piping hot cafe au lait).
