Meet Richard Stock, from United Kingdom. He has been living with type 1 diabetes since 2002 and he is a member of Blue Circle Voices network. . "I have lived with type 1 diabetes since 2002. My first diabetes nurse was an inspiration to me in learning to live with such a life-changing diagnosis. Her words in those early days still stay with me today: “Remember, you control your diabetes, it doesn’t control you”. It is a mantra by which I have tried to live my life. Since my diagnosis as a 27-year-old, my then girlfriend (now wife) and I have raised two children and I have had a successful career in higher education. My son was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in June 2020. I passionately believe in maximising access to diabetes care, increasing knowledge and understanding across the world and empowering people with diabetes to live long, happy and fulfilling lives. As a member of the Blue Circle Voices network, I hope to further its aims by supporting its campaigns and sharing my experience of living with diabetes over the last 20 years." .
