LSS pt.2 from the For the Culture Ball in Seattle.. I was 2 days past an insomnia triggered body shut down after 4 years of chronic insomnia. I mustered the strength to dance and afterwards i went backstage and collapsed. Yeeeaaars ago LA’s Pioneer @missebonylane pulled me aside and said “Isla you could have chosen any category but you chose the sacred dance..” a dance born out of pain, suffering, oppression, and struggle. These words are always with me. There is just something about the sacred dance that no matter what your current situation is, exhaustion, homelessness, sleeplessness, hunger, abuse, etc... unknown strength and power is pulled from you to tell a story.
