One final piece of our home build is finally finished. I have wanted a penny floor for years in some part of my home. When we were planning for this house we decided to pick a small space for it (penny floors are a lot - both visually and work wise). We chose our front bathroom - which is the guest bath and the kiddo's bath. The first floor was a disaster. I wanted resin on top but it wasn't used by the crew. Instead the floor was just sealed with a light sealant. The sealant started to break down immediately and the pennies started to turn green. Being that this is also a teenage boys' bathroom, the room started to get a very unpleasant aroma (wet pennies and pee) and wasn't looking too great either. We finally got a crew in to clean the pennies and put resin on top. But the resin wasn't cured properly. So it turned an unfortunate milky color that looked disturbingly like c*m.... The resin was too hard and thick to take up so we had ANOTHER penny floor laid on top of it and covered in resin again and this time it turned out perfect! If we sell this house one day and the new owners decide to take up the penny floor they are going to do a lot of work only to be very confused by the SECOND penny floor directly under it 🤣 which is a thought that really makes me smile.
