GOOD BOY VIDEO OUT NOW ON EARMILK At this point I’m used to my art being censored, but this time even my interview answers explaining the video were edited so... I’ve copied and pasted my original replies to the answers sent by the magazine: 1. The concept for the video is a sort of indoctrination into a boys’ club (that I thought I wanted to join)... of enslavement, branding, release, recapture; rinse and repeat... I had a loose idea of a scared-lonely-girl at a Slipknot concert who’s befriended by some cool, protective off-duty army guys. They have a blast around a fire pit with some beers, but she ends up with roofies in her blue raspberry Slurpie; waking up chained and bent over a chair in a dusty man cave ... branded, brainwashed and ‘part of the family.’ For deeper meaning, beyond my fetishized desires at odds with my anger (anger of being emotionally muted like the “Pavlovian Bitch” I describe in the song), I’d say the video depicts my particular “struggle” as a human female artist. I’m pulled into a cycle of reward-reprimand as I attempt to simply exist as a person and collaborate as an artist. A “Good Boy” comes along to help me, work with me, promising acceptance and freedom - only to enslave and abuse my efforts. As I struggle, another Good Boy comes along to free me, to help me... only to enslave me again. 2. I want people to walk away shocked, disgusted; throbbing with a confused hard-on and an uncontrollable urge to support me financially. But not just in the “barbaric” masculine way that it sounds, but that feeling you get when you see something that unlocks a secret, unconscious arousal within. The thrill of the brutal - the pull of the Colosseum - to acknowledge the attracting and repelling force of human pleasure that will always be linked to human pain, because one can never exist without the other. The Good Boy was “there to help you out - out of your clothes... and into self doubt.” Now it’s up to you to stop crying, chew through your rusty chains, and try to avoid getting put in shiny new ones.
