So this is the most unreal announcement I will ever make in my life... @iheartradio nominated me for Tour Photographer of the year along side many of my friends. Getting this email brought me to tears. @lynngvnn texted me in 2013 and asked me if I wanted to come on PVRIS’ first tour and that was when my life completely changed. Since I had gotten my first real photo pass in 2010 my dream was to go on tour and tell the stories on the road. In 2014 I got an offer to do merch and photo for a bit more than my Starbucks paycheck so I quit. I went on to spend most of 2014-2016 on the road until photography nearly killed me (lol) in 2016 when I got diagnosed with Thoracic Outlet Syndrome, had an aneurism burst in my shoulder and was forced to spend weeks in the hospital and undergo five surgeries in England. I found myself in the darkest place I’d ever been, got rid of my stuff in storage in Chicago and moved to la with four suitcases. In 2017 I met @jessiej through @mddnco and my flame reignited. She took me back on tour and I began to heal. Hit the road with @AllTimeLow in 2018, ended in 2019 and three months later the world went into lockdown. I got an email in March 2021 in regards to photographing @TwentyOnePilots for their new album, Scaled and Icy. On set that day @reelbearmedia asked me about touring and it had never even occurred to me that it would be possible to do that again one day. It felt so ominous. He called me late that summer and offered me the Takeover Tour with twenty one pilots. After show #1 I fell in love with their fans and the community they have accumulated over the course of their career. Fast forward to fall of 2022. The Icy Tour had arrived. To this day it is my favorite body of work I have EVER created. And I got to create it with one of the most talented humans ever... MARK!!!!!!! To be recognized for this award means everything to me. I am eternally thankful. Cheers to the good, bad, scary and spectacular. It only gets better from here. It has been a long road and I wouldn’t trade it for the world.
