"Cartooning is such a versatile medium that in my work throughout the year I attempted to capture the sobering, the unjust and the damn-right ridiculous." At times, 2022 felt like living on fast-forward through twenty years' worth of events, says our cartoonist @bjenningsUK. "Three prime ministers, war, the death of a monarch as well as a deepening cost-of-living crisis that has cast a large shadow over the entire year. There were also plenty of farcical moments that evoked the much-overused phrase: 'Satire is dead'.” In different ways, this has all lead to "the common paradox cartoonists often find themselves in of being in despair with the way the world's going but having an abundance of material to fill a blank page", says Ben.
