3 Things I did when I went natural and don’t do anymore because it didn’t work, doesn’t work nor did it help with hair health or length retention. 1: Spending days washing my hair Even with short hair my wash day was 2 days. Your hair don’t need to take this long to do. I can do my hair in 1hr or 1hr 30 min. I have dense hair, I have long hair and my hair is coarse if I can figure this out so can you. 2: Pre poo: I tried this it was not for me. Detangling my hair dry but with a detangling product especially from a wash and go was breaking off my hair. Tip: If you need to break up your wash day for whatever reason Detangle first. Jump in the shower. Section your hair in 4 or more, apply a conditioner with slip. I have two both are listed in my favourites highlight. Apply and detangle under running water. jumbo twist. Next day shampoo in the detangled section. This will help you retain length. This will prevent you rushing. 3: Deep conditioning every wash day. You really don’t need to. I don’t have time to get in and out the shower and sit around two hours or 30 min. I do it as a treat every other week or once a month especially if I do a protein or bonding treatment and to balance my hair ph from the treatments. Context. I embarked on what is my natural journey January 2018. The idea was to limit my use of relaxers or manage my texture (new growth) with heat. I used heat until September 2018 - some might class this period as the transition. I don’t because I didn’t have an idea what I wanted to do with my hair. The choices I made meant my two textured hair was in a bad way so I cut my hair 25th November 2018 (big chopped) and kept having to cut curls that I had heat damaged in the process up until March 2019. It doesn’t matter when I started on my journey and it shouldn’t matter but I know people like dates and idea of time. If you need to know a time frame then you ain’t ready for this journey and if you hold a quick time as validity to trust recommendation then you will embark on a journey of trying many things and not seeing results because you haven’t been patient enough to stick to a routine.
