We discussed a case out of Texas 🇨🇱 where a former #borderpatrol agent in Texas is on trial accused of being a serial killer. ⚖️ Juan David Ortiz has been charged with four women’s deaths in 2018 in Laredo. He faces life in prison if convicted. ⚖️ JUSTICE is necessary for any victim of a violent crime; however, Defendants have constitutional rights that should not be violated. The 406th District Court in Webb County, Texas has apparently been plagued with issues for YEARS! 💜 My client was interrogated without an attorney or a Spanish translator despite his requests. He confessed, but then wanted a trial. All of a sudden the docket shows a guilty plea to first degree murder and aggravated assault. ⚖️ But—the prosecutor ran to the media to declare that the case was about alcohol & the Defendant being intoxicated (as he said during his unconstitutional interrogation), so how is that FIRST degree murder again? ⚖️ Arrests without arraignments for months and more procedural errors plague small border towns like Laredo.
