You’re bigger than this. When I stumbled on this quote by Katie Beth (I missed a dot on one of the i’s), I knew it was for me. More so the younger mom me. Maybe it’s for you, too. I never knew I had severe postpartum depression until I was diagnosed with our 3rd child. I wasn’t ever screened for ppd when I had my first two babies. I just knew something was off but I always just “sucked it up.” I remember those days - it felt like I was drowning. There were days I was left by myself to care for our 3 kids newborn to age 5 while my husband was out of town for days for work. I seriously felt like I couldn’t breathe. It was like climbing up a muddy hill in a hailstorm, pushing up against a landslide with my kids hanging on to me with an anvil tied to my waste bringing up the rear. Some days it felt like I was tied to an anchor and I was sinking deep into the ocean. It felt soooo heavy. And lonely. My suicidal thoughts were relentless. Every waking hour I kept telling myself I have to survive it. One second at a time. One minute at a time. Many times I felt giving up because I couldn’t see the point of fighting all of it. But then I see my children and realize that I have to fight all of my negative thoughts and my pains, for them.
