A fall walk can have a greater impact on your child’s development than you might realize. Allowing them to lead the way can boost their sense of autonomy, and as you stroll, you can pick up leaves for a DIY art project! 🎨 While transferring leaves from the ground to a basket, your child practices motor skills and can learn to visually distinguish leaves by size, color, and shape. Try pointing out these differences with language like, “That leaf is yellow and crunchy,” or “This is a big maple leaf.” 🍂 Once you have leaves in hand, you can help your child make some leaf rubbings: 🍁 Lay a leaf on a hard surface, underside up. 📃 Place a piece of paper over it and tape two or three edges of the paper down. 🖍️ Show your child how to rub the washable Tempera Paint Sticks from the Helper Play Kit’s Anywhere Art Kit over the paper to see the pattern of the leaf’s veins appear! As your little one focuses on applying steady pressure to create a replica of the entire leaf, they build hand strength and practice concentration and patience. You can even give them an early botany lesson on the parts of a leaf, or help them categorize the types of leaves and the trees they came from! 🌳 👉 Safety reminder: Please remember to supervise your child during pouring activities and put away all materials when playtime is over. #Lovevery #FallDIY #ToddlerActivities #Parenting
