Outlining the primary tasks of each firefighter on an apparatus is a reliable way of getting all key jobs done and done quickly. Of course, you have to adapt to the given scenario. Things don’t always go to plan but with SOPs you have a plan that everyone knows and it serves as your guide. Whether it’s securing utilities, throwing ladders, developing the hose lay or laying the supply line - it’s all part of the SOPs.
