Established in 2021, the LOEWE FOUNDATION / Studio Voltaire Award celebrates talent, individuality and original thinking within contemporary art practice. The first chapter of the award benefits seven artists with two years of support including mentorship, a bursary and rent–free studio space. As we head into the second year, we commissioned awardee Josiah Moktar (@josiahmoktar) to photograph portraits of their peers and their studios. This week we visit the studio of Djofray Makumbu (@djofraymakumbu), whose practice includes painting, moving image, sound and animation.
