I once fell in love with someone. After a while, she wasn't there 🥀 Some self-portraits from my recent short, inspired by In the Mood for Love and 2046. It was the most ambitious video project I've ever attempted by myself (although I couldn't have done it without the most terrifically supportive @tomlephoto) and a complete labour of love. At certain points, it felt like everything was stacked up against me and giving up would've been the easier choice. I had bitten off more than I could chew and a melted pie sent me spiralling into an catastrophic crisis. By the time I hit save on the final edit, I hated the entire project. When I finally uploaded the video, I felt a wave of relief wash over me. It was out of my hands now and I had to stop judging myself because the video was no longer mine. It's not perfect or life-changing or even necessarily significant in any way but I'll always remember how I made myself proud by breaking through all the years of critical self-talk I'm cocooned in.
