The series demonstrates the width and breadth of the scene, illustrating how the subsequent direction of UK dance culture was forged as Jazz-Funk gave way to Electro-Funk. Some records were later embraced by mainstream clubs and DJs, whilst others remained underground obscurities, perhaps never released in this country, the tunes arriving in many guises, encompassing various styles/tempos/textures, but all under the black dance umbrella.
