A little late, but here they are 📚 1. Tender is the Flesh, by Agustina Bazterrica • Points deducted for its brutal + grotesque nature. However, it was incredible in terms of symbolism 👏🏽 Particularly the discussion around PoC + their relationship with food. 2. The Nightingale, by Kristin Hannah • I ugly cried during most of this book. The hype was very much deserved. 3. I Who Have Never Known Men, by Jacqueline Harpman • Y’all lied! As someone who lives for absolutes in reading, this book was not for me. I will give it points for the writers ability to make me feel the characters’ hopelessness. 4. Butter, by Asako Yuzuki • I gave up after 150ish pages and started reading ACOTAR instead. For me, the continuous sexist (fatphobic + misogynistic) commentary really took away from the interest I once had in this book. It became almost infuriating to read at some points — hats off to the writing I suppose. I will say though, I’m going to force myself to read the rest this month. I hate that I gave up on it, especially since so many have loved it.
